And why a perfumer ended up making the one that doesn't.
One costs a pound. One costs thirty. Turn them round and they have the same problem.
You wash your hands around ten times a day. That's more than you wash anything else. Most of us choose a hand wash on price or on smell, and never turn the bottle round.
Tom Daxon has made fine fragrance for fifteen years. When he started reading the backs of hand washes, the £1 supermarket bottle and the £30 designer bottle turned out to have the same problem. Here's what he found.
Most supermarket hand washes are built around sulphates, such as SLS and SLES. They're cheap, they foam well, and they belong to the same family of cleansers used in washing-up liquid.
They're very good at lifting oil. The trouble is that your skin's own oils are what keep your hands soft. Wash ten times a day with something designed to strip grease and you strip those too. That squeaky, tight feeling isn't "clean". It's your skin barrier wearing down.
So you upgrade. A heavy bottle, a beautiful smell, the one you've seen in good restaurant bathrooms. It feels like the grown-up choice, and the fragrance often is lovely.
But read the ingredients. Most are still made to clean and to smell nice. You'll rarely find the actives your skin wants, like hyaluronic acid. Different price, same problem: your hands still feel tight afterwards.

Wash, skin tightens, reach for the hand cream. Then do it again at the next sink. If that sounds like your day, the cream isn't the problem, and your skin probably isn't either.
You're repairing damage your hand wash does every time you use it, and paying twice for one problem. Hand cream should be a treat, not damage control.

The product you use most should be the one doing the most good. So gloved puts actives you'd normally find in a face serum into the hand wash. It still lathers and still cleans properly. Your hands just don't come out of it tight.

Will it work for eczema / very dry skin?
Yes, you will see from our reviews and transformations that many of our customers have successfully reversed extremely dry skin.
We would never want to overpromise, as all skin is different and the causes of dryness/irritation can be varied.
We also recommend that if you have known allergies/sensitivities to scented products that you choose our Unscented products.

How do I manage my subscription?
Our subscriptions offer full flexibility. You can cancel, skip, change frequency, pause, change product, even add one-time products at special subscription discounts!
You can either just email us at shop@gloved.co.uk or make the changes yourself in your subscription portal. You can access this via the 'Manage My Subscription' link in the footer of every page of our website, or via the Account icon at the top right if you have set one up, or via the links included in every subscription reminder email, which we send 3 days before your next subscription order.
Are your products vegan / cruelty free?
Yes. All our products are 100% vegan and cruelty free. We never test on animals.
How does the Hand Wash Refill subscription work?
So that you're not left with empty bottles, your first 1L Refill comes after 2 months and then they come every 4 months after that.
For the Mixed Refill Set:
You will receive an alternating scent each time: Cedarwood Hand Wash Refill after 2 months, then a Soft Nude Refill after 4 months, then Petitgrain 4 months after that.
If you would like to change to one of the other scents or change frequency of deliveries (or any other change you can think of): no problem! Just email us at shop@gloved.co.uk and we can do it for you, or you can login to your portal and change yourself.
You can cancel at any time in exactly the same way as listed above.
How can I track my order?
We aim to send your products within one working day of receiving your order.
We always send via a tracked delivery service. You will receive a tracking number via email once your order is despatched.
Our standard UK delivery is 2 days. Express is a next day service.
US and EU orders are sent via Fedex FIC and usually take 2-8 days. All international orders are sent Delivery Duty Paid, so no nasty surprises to pay for you upon delivery!
If your order tracking shows it’s been five working days or more since the last tracking scan, please let us know by emailing shop@gloved.co.uk, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
Please rest assured that if your order is lost or damaged in transit, we will replace free of charge.
